Student Council is kicking off it's Pennies for Patients fundraser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Last year PRMS donated $2,000, and this year we have raised our goal to $3,000.  Make it a priority to bring money in any form into your period 1 class to help meet the goal.  Our own Jack Winter is "Our School's Hero".  Help Jack and other children beat this disease.  See Jack's story attached.

Auditions for the High School Spring Musical are the week after Thanksgiving!  Middle School students with a serious interest are welcome!  There will be a brief informational meeting Tuesday, November 13 at 2:15 in the high school auditorium.  Immediately following the meeting there will be a vocal workshop for all girls interested in auditioning.  On Thursday November 15th there will be a vocal workshop for guys right after school in the theater room at the high school.

 

The workshops are meant to help you prepare for auditions.  It is strongly recommended that you attend if you are going to audition.

 

The show requires actors, singers and experienced dancers.  More information to come!

Sign-ups for the upcoming Intramural Basketball season will be held on Thursday, November 8th from 7:00-8:00p.m. in the hallway outside the Middle School gym.  The program is open to all Pentucket Middle School 7th and 8th grade boys.  Games are played on Friday nights and run from December to early February.  The cost is $80 per player.  Please stop by to register or contact Joe Sullivan at joesully@comcast.net for more information.

Girls 7/8th Intramural Basketball

 

We are looking to run the girl’s intramural basketball league for 7th & 8th graders at the Middle School again this year.  If there is enough interest, we will play Friday afternoons at 5pm during the season. There may be an occasional Saturday or Sunday game, depending on how many teams we have.

Please let us know if there is any interest in coaching or assisting in coaching, as this will impact how many teams we can operate.

The Harvest Dance will be Friday 10/26 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Middle School Cafeteria.  The dance is for PRMS students only - please have rides at the Middle School by 8:50 p.m.

 

There will be pizza, soda, candy and prizes sponsored by West Newbury PD and FD!  Also, there will be a Jack-o-Lantern contest.  Student's should drop off there carved pumpkins /Jack-o-Lantern's in the cafeteria Friday 10/26 in the morning when they come to school.  There will also be a costume contest - students are welcome to dress up however no face make-up to cover the entire face, no masks, and no inappropriate costumes which include weapons - all phones will be off and away.

Community Service is running a drive for the victims of the gas explosions last week in Lawrence, Andover and North Andover.  Please consider donating Walmart and Target gift cards and monetary donations.  They can be dropped off at Middle School front office.  All donations will be brought to Debbie's Treasure Chest a volunteer organization in Lawrence.  With your help we will make a difference.

The PRMS PTO is holding its annual pie fundraiser!  Please consider supporting the PTO and all they do for our school by ordering pies and cookie dough!  The pies and dough arrive ready to bake just before Thanksgiving and can be picked up during parent-teacher conferences.  Bring dessert to Thanksgiving and support the PTO!  Students received order forms to bring home and there is a copy attached below.

 

PRMS PTO 2019 Ski Program is now enrolling.  Please print the documents linked here and return to the PTO mailbox in the main office by 10/26/18 - 2019 Ski Program.  As we need to register students with Ski Bradford we are not able to accept enrollments past 10/26/18, no exceptions.

 

Consider joining PRMS PTO - the first meeting is Monday, Sept24th at 7PM in the teacher's room - hope to see you there!

Open Gym will be offered on Wednesday's after school from 2:20-3:00 p.m. beginning September 19th!  This opportunity is for boys and girls in the 7th and 8th grade.  Open Gym will be supervised by Mrs. Goldweber.  Students may organize pickup basketball games, toss the football around or use the fitness equipment such as the agility ladders.  Students must be in well standings with their grades in order to participate!

PRMS Late Bus transportation starts today, and runs Tues-Thurs afternoons (there is no late bus on Wed Sept12 this week)  Routes are different than regular dismissal, and stops are posted outside the cafe.  Late bus is provided for students working with teachers or in club activities only (students may not leave campus and return for late bus).  Staff will escort students staying after to the cafe around 3PM to wait for each town to be called.  The late bus typically leaves campus around 3:30PM.

Middle School Cross Country - Attention 7th and 8th grade parents!  Pentucket MIddle School will be offering Cross Country this fall.  Coaches Andy Alsup, Megan Goldweber, and Steve Coppola will introduce students to the sport of cross country.  Instruction will focus on proper running form and technique along with improving speed, strength, and endurance.  Practices will be held after school until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday's (time TBD).  Most meets will be on Thursday afternoons.  Athletes will compete in the Cape Ann League, running races of about  miles.  Cost:  $105.00 registration form and fee must be received in order to enroll your child.  A schedule will be provided to the students on the first day of the program (September 11, 2018).  Registration forms can be accessed on the Community Ed page at www.prsd.org.  Registration is now open!

Mr. Hickey, Pentucket Boys Varsity Basketball Coach will be running the Boys Basketball Academy.  The Basketball Academy staff is dedicated to working with each basketball player to help him develop his fundamental skills.  The academy involves a combination of individual instruction and team competition that provide young athletes opportunity to develop fundamental skills.  Every basketball player will be grouped by one's age for instruction and for game competition.  Learning how to execute fundamental skills is the key to individual improvement.  Team concepts will be covered as well.  Various offense and defensive systems will be introduced and every basketball player will learn how to defend or attach different styles of play.  Additionally, participants will be assigned to teams for game competition - a great opportunity to put newly learned skills into practice.  Dates:  July 16, 2018 - July 20, 2018  9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. PRHS Gym Fee:  $225.00

Community Service is sponsoring a toy drive.  Please bring in  NEW toys for the Salisbury Boy's and Girl's Club.  The toy drive begins Wednesday, November 15th.  Let's make someone's holiday really special!

Auditions for the Pentucket High School spring musical are November 27-December 1st.  Actors, singers, dancers are welcome!!!  We are also looking for student choreographers and experienced cheerleaders/gymnasts.  This show is full of huge dance numbers and 80's anthems!  The "Grease of the 80's" has something for everyone.  Don't miss out! If you've never done a show before, this is the one to try!  There will be an informational meeting this Thursday.

PRMS will host a holiday season kick-off event Friday afternoon!  Students can choose to attend the dance in the cafe or watch the movie Elf in the auditorium - both will take place from 3-5PM on Friday Nov17 (going between the dance and movie will not be permitted).   All students will need transportation for 5PM.  Students may choose to stay at school until 3PM and watch the Peanuts Thanksgiving special prior to the dance/movie screening, or return for 3PM.  Admission is $5 at the door and PTO will be selling concessions at both the dance and the movie.  This event is for PRMS students only, and we hope to see you there!

Welcome to PRMS!  PTO meetings are throughout the year.  We also welcome any role you can offer the PTO if you can't make it to the meetings.  The PRMS PTO is responsible for coordinating and taking part in a number of various events and fundraisers listed below.  In order to maintain those events, we need your help!

 

Meetings 2017-2018 - Meetings will be held on the following Monday's from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Teacher's Lounge.

 

September 18                   October 16

February 26                       May 7

June - to be scheduled as needed

 

PTO Sponsored Events

 

- Middle School dances - Parent Volunteers run the concession stand at each MS dance

- November and May - Staff Luncheons hosted by MS parents; Coordinator and Bakers/Cooks/Shoppers needed

- January - Ski program at Bradford - Parents are needed to coordinate the program and help out at the ski lodge and on the busses

- March Madness - Teachers vs. Students Basketball game - Coordinator needed

- June - 8th Grade Class Night - Decorating, theme, food/drinks

 

Fund Raisers

 

- September/October - Pie Sales - order in October, delivery the Monday before Thanksgiving

- March - March Madness basketball tournament for students and teachers

- Boxtops - Send your Boxtops in to the Middle School office any time during the school year
